Before You Doubt Yourself Again, Read This

August 11, 2025

To the young people scrolling through feeds and feeling “not enough”
Not experienced enough.
Not connected enough.
Not accomplished enough.

STOP.

You were never meant to fit into someone else’s timeline or definition of success.
You were meant to grow, to learn, and yes to feel deeply along the way.

Your value is not defined by job titles, followers, or likes.
It’s in the resilience you show when things don’t go as planned.
It’s in the integrity you maintain when no one is watching.
It’s in your willingness to keep going even when it’s hard.

Your wellbeing isn’t a checkpoint you reach after proving yourself.
It’s the ground beneath every step you take,
the fuel that keeps your spirit alive.
It’s not something you have to fight for or earn,
It’s yours, without conditions.

If you’re feeling behind or overwhelmed, remember:
Your journey is your own.
You are enough.

This International Youth Day, let’s shatter the mirrors that lie, let’s rewrite the story from “not enough” to unapologetically enough. Let’s honour the courage it takes for young people to be authentic in the face of pressure – to stay curious, to stay human, and to keep creating their own path.

But this day is more than a celebration or a hashtag.
It’s a call to action – to show up for youth with real support,
with policies that empower, and resources that make change possible.
Not with empty words, but with commitment and care.

A huge thanks to the amazing schools and programs across Australia – like Youth Off The Streets, The Smith Family, Mission Australia, Youth Futures, Youth Focus, Youth Opportunities Australia Limited and Specialised Assistance School for Youth (SASY) – that truly show up for young people. For meeting our youth where they are, offering support without judgment, and helping them find their own way forward. And while we may not know every name, their work is felt deeply in the lives they touch.

To every young soul finding their way:
You don’t have to rush. The path is yours.
